How JFS Helps in Moments Like These

We Start by
Listening

The first conversation focuses on understanding what's going on, making sense of your situation, and what matters most to you right now.

Guidance
Without Pressure

Our professional team understands how sensitive these conversations can be and offers guidance with care, without judgment or pressure.

Support That
Fits Your Needs

From there, support may take different forms, depending on what's most helpful. It may be provided directly by JFS or come from a community partner.

Support JFS Provides May Include the Following:

  • Sometimes the most important thing is knowing someone is checking in. Our Community Support Specialist visits with seniors in their home, focusing on their quality of life, connecting them to resources they may need, and helping address concerns before they become harder to manage.

  • Getting to a medical appointment, the grocery store, or community programming isn't always easy. JFS provides no-cost transportation for seniors who need a reliable way to get there. Trips are scheduled in advance to ensure availability.

  • For seniors living in assisted living or nursing home facilities, staying connected to Jewish life matters. Jewish Connections brings programming focused on holidays, culture, and traditions directly to residents at The Sherman House, South Bay, and Wellmore, led by our Jewish Community Chaplain and volunteers.

If you or someone you love might benefit, reach out to learn more.

  • If you are a Holocaust survivor, or caring for one, JFS is here to help. We provide practical support and financial assistance tailored to the specific needs of survivors, so they can live with the care and dignity they deserve.

  • For seniors who find themselves feeling isolated or disconnected, having a regular place to gather can make a real difference.Tea Time and Conversations is a welcoming group for independent seniors, offering meaningful discussion on engaging topics over light refreshments. Facilitated by our Director of Case Management, the group meets the first and third Wednesday of each month from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the West Ashley Library, 45 Windermere Blvd, Charleston.
